Arnim started studying katipō with the support of the team of Cape Kidnappers and Ocean Beach Sanctuary, and it’s associated scientists, in 2011. Since 2016 the focus study area shifted from the east coast to the west coast of the Lower North Island.
Workshop: The basics of katipō conservation
This workshop will familiarise participants with identifying features of katipō, false katipō and redback spiders; their ecology, and how this fits into coastal dunes restoration. It will introduce several species of exotic spider known to prey on katipō, ie. mustelids of the invertebrate world.
