Southlight Studio combines the talents of artist Janet Andrews & photographer Simon Hoyle. Based on the seafront in Days Bay, the studio is a gallery & working space for their creations. Janet is a well known NZ watercolour artist but along with her background as a geologist & zoologist, she has embraced the values of coastal restoration. Simon has been a professional photographer for most of his career & specialises in black & white environmental portraits. Originally trained as a mining engineer, he has combined with Janet to create short entertaining videos on various subjects. In 2021, Southlight was contracted & funded by DOC & CRT to produce a series of 14 videos on Coastal Restoration issues in New Zealand.
